Hey guys!

I'm working on the next update / patch, which should include some of the following quality of life and general improvements:

  • Opacity Slider: An opacity slider / auto opacity for certain projectiles and particles.
  • Bug Fixes: Other bugs and stuff.
  • General Balancing: More balancing adjustments.
  • New Map Feature: Maybe a full size UI map with fog of war so you can see where you've been (if I have time).

Anyway, I am making this post to ask about two main things I'm currently wrestling with!


1. The Robinette Problem

What are your thoughts on Robinette? Her "gold = damage" passive is incredibly fun, but it's leading to her being an undisputed character that will always dominate the leaderboards by scaling beyond all other characters.

Potential Solutions:

  • Nerf Passive: My initial thought is to nerf the passive late game so it doesn't scale as insanely. While I don't really want to nerf a character that's "fun af," it seems necessary unless I buff all other characters with insane new passives, which would throw all balancing out the window.
  • Create an Item: Another possibility is to nerf her passive a bit and turn this "gold = damage" mechanic into an item instead. This might be an option, but it probably shouldn't be as strong as Robinette's current passive, as that would make it the only viable build.

Let me know what you think about how we should address this.


2. Character Buffs & Balancing Suggestions

Anything specific you want to see as far as balancing goes? I've got a few characters in mind for buffs:

  • Birdo: Will get a buff to his passive.
  • Fox: Could maybe do with more than just 1% luck per level.
  • Noelle: Might get size scaling instead of duration.

Let me know if you have any suggestions for your favorite characters!


3. XP / Luck / Difficulty Tomes

I see a bunch of complaints about the XP, Luck, and Difficulty tomes because they are often seen as "required" tomes. That's probably true if you're going for leaderboard runs, but if you're just playing for fun, I find these tomes to be a blast and not a requirement at all.

Our Stance:

With that in mind, I'm not going to remove them from the game, as that would just create new required meta tomes (Damage / Precision / Size / Gold / Chaos). I am simply making a game that I think is fun, and I have a lot of fun with these tomes.

Future Possibility:

One possibility in the future is a separate leaderboard for those of you that really don't want these three tomes in runs.
